Rule Definition
A non-existent or a loose policy on redirection to URLs can lead to security issues. At the outset all the external links/URLs should be considered as untrusted. Applications should have a set of whitelist URLs that can be directed to from the app.
The issue with allowing apps to access external URLs is that the security of the system then becomes dependent on an external factor which is out of scope of control of the architect and developer.
Remediation
Always review the http redirects from the app and create a stringent and strict policy to include only trusted sources
