Rule Definition
It is not allowed to use the fixed format; only free format is allowed. The rules applied by the Fortran pre-processor are the following.
By default the file is assumed to be a fixed format, unless of the following conditions is violated:
- Comment starts at column 1 of the source lines
- Labels can exists in column 1 to column 5
- A continuation character can only exist in column 6
- Statements always start at column 7
- Lines cannot have more than 72 characters.
